Do you know that it takes, on average, only three minutes and forty-five seconds to read the average chapter of the Bible!? Do you know that reading five chapters a week will allow you to read through the entire New Testament every year? No more than five minutes every day!

Getting God’s Word into us is crucial to experiencing His deep peace, purpose, and freedom. God wants us to understand and embrace His “great and precious promises” (2 Peter 1:4). We believe that God can and will speak to us through His Holy Spirit as we spend time in His Word. That’s why our Grow-n-Go Groups are designed to share what God has spoken to us through the weekly sermon and our weekly reading in 5 Minutes with God.

We encourage every person who desires to know and love God deeper and more intimately to spend five minutes for five days of the week to read a chapter based on the schedule below. [We have interspersed readings from the Old Testament also so it will take us a little longer than a year to cycle through the entire New Testament.] The whole church will be reading, hearing, and sharing together what God is saying!

Instructions:

  1. Locate the appropriate week and join in at any time. Choose to read in a translation that is readable and understandable to you. [New Living Translation (NLT) is a great place to start if you don’t have a preference.] Go to www.Biblegateway.com to read every day in whatever translation you prefer.
  2. Spend your five minutes by (a) always praying for God to speak and you to hear; (b) reading the passage; and, (c) asking yourself two questions: What did I hear from God today? What is the Holy Spirit telling me to do with what I heard?
  3. Hint: You might consider writing down daily what you heard so that you can remember to share with your Grow-n-Go Group.
